Parent Liasion Officer
Each year we ask one or two parents from every class to act as a parent representative of that classroom. Last year we had several meetings with Parent Liaison Officers, the parents have made several recommendations for improvements around the school and contributed to many changes that have been implemented this year. A ‘Parent Liaison Officer’ is a parent representative who comes along to a meeting once or twice a term and brings feedback from the parents of that class to myself or a member of the administration team and then feeds back information and decisions to the parents of the class.
Please consider your ability to take on this role and contact your child’s class teacher as soon as possible if you are interested.
The first PLO Meeting for the year will be held this Thursday 1 March at 1.45pm in the Yarrow Centre.
Assemblies Assemblies have changed this year based on feedback from teachers, students and parents.
There will be two assemblies each week. Monday assembly at 2:30pm will be for Year 4-7. On Tuesday we will hold an assembly for P-3 and it will begin at 2:15pm finishing at approximately 2:45pm to allow the younger students to return to their classroom for the end of the day.
Whole school assemblies will still occur but only once a term; on the last Tuesday of each term. Whole school assemblies will be a celebration of learning for the term.
All assemblies will include performances and celebrations of children’s learning.

Last week the short listed House Captain nominees made speeches to their teachers, parents and peers. All students spoke well and demonstrated that they would do a fabulous job as a leader in our school. Congratulations to our new House Captains.

There continues to be some issues with parking and pick-up on Redbank Plains Road. All parents and caregivers are kindly requested to support the rules associated to this area. Local police and council parking officers have been patrolling the area. Please also remember that the staff car park is only available for parents of students with disabilities.
Ball Games Carnival
Our school ball games carnival was held on Friday 17 February. This was a hotly contested competition between classes in years 5, 6 and 7. Students competed in Tunnel Ball, Leader Ball and Captain Ball.
Champion classes for the afternoon were:
• 5A who came out in front with only 6 points separating all year 5 classes.
• 6M and 5/6M tied for the year 6 competition and
• 7S were the most consistent class in the year 7 competition.
As well as their classmates cheering the teams on, we had some parents from 6M supporting their children in amongst the crowd.
The district ball game carnival is on Friday 16 March. Trials were held last week and teams are now busy training. Paperwork should have been received at this stage. Cost for the district ball games is $6.00per person to cover the bus. Cross Country Our school cross country carnival will be held over three days this year.
